CBA raises awareness at Sustainability events

Green Building Council of SA Convention 2021

"Over the years, the GBCSA Convention has been working towards achieving a sustainable future," declares Lisa Reynolds – Executive Director of The Green Building Council South Africa and long-time clay brick proponent.

"Now, in 2021, as we continue to adapt to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and with climate change effects being felt more around the world, it all comes down to ONE. We need to work as ONE to save our ONE planet for this generation and the next."

The Clay Brick Association was one of the exhibitors at the in-person event. The 2021 convention offered a hybrid of attendance options for both speakers and delegates. Delegates either attended in-person in Cape Town or or viewed online virtually.

"I was delighted to be able to attend the event in-person," reports CBA executive director Mariana Lamont. "Talking one-on-one with participants makes all the difference. We're planning further conversations with the friends we made over this week. Green Building Design Group - it was great having you as our neighbour!

"I would like to say a special thank you to the Cabrico team for setting up, and for their dedicated assistance on the stand! Thank you also to Claytile for delivering clay block samples at short notice! Congratulations to Lisa Reynolds  and her team on a well-organized event!

Nico Mienie, managing director of Algoa Brick, represented the CBA on the Green Innovation stage. He spoke on the Thermal Performance of clay brick, presenting the latest research findings on energy-efficiency.

The GBCSA works with its membership community to inspire a built environment in which people and planet thrive. It operates across the commercial, residential, and public sectors to ensure that buildings and homes are designed, built, and operated in an environmentally sustainable way. The GBCSA is one of approximately 75 members of the World Green Building Council.

Sustainability Week 2021

The CBA took part in the 11th annual Sustainability Summit which was a live virtual event from 21 to 23 September 2021. The Claybrick Association online stand had 53 visitors during the 3-day event. Because it was held online, the exhibition continues to be open for viewing.
