Award-winning development, The Gayles Estate in Evander, Mpumalanga is only 8km away from Secunda, making it an affordable housing option for Sasol employees. Federale Stene’s Semiface Travetine (FBA) clay bricks were used to great effect. This roughly textured clay brick with dark spots and golden-brown hue forms a beautiful bonding pattern well suited for homeowners looking for a cost-effective, low maintenance home.

Earthworks at The Gayles began in 2013 and this is still an ongoing project. Construction on the project is divided into three phases. The first is 80% complete and fully occupied, with the second phase filling up fast.

The project won the Developer of the Year award at the South African Affordable Residential Developers Association (SAARDA) annual golf and awards evening held at Glendower Golf Club last year.

Energy efficient with thermal comfort

The area does tend to be slightly colder therefore the clay bricks are well suited to provide sufficient insulation for many years to come. Clay brick remains the best for this community to establish a sustainable way of living so that future generations can benefit from this great initiative too.
